Description

ALTO ADIGE SAUVIGNON BLANC ― FRANZ HAAS

Location: Montagna Sulla Strada Del Vino, Bolzano – Trentito Alto Adige
Classification: Alto Adige Sauvignon DOC
Grape varieties: Sauvignon

Even though globally widespread, Sauvignon Blanc is best grown in cool places. Franz Haas, a private medium-sized winery in northern Italy, cultivates Sauvignon Blanc grapes in a sloping vineyard in the Alps region between 1,300 and 2,600 ft above sea level. Despite its very pale color, the wine nose is complex with floral, fruity and herbal pronounced aromas. It is intense on the palate and really refreshing with a lingering citrusy finish. Sauvignon matches vegetable dishes, seafood and can be wonderfully paired with raw fish.

LANGHE NEBBIOLO ― USIGNOLO ― CASCINA BRUCIATA

Location: Tre Stelle, Cuneo – Piemonte
Classification: Langhe Nebbiolo DOC
Grape varieties: Nebbiolo

Enjoy the infamous Nebbiolo in a pure and gentle expression. Langhe Nebbiolo is an immediately approachable wine made with Nebbiolo, the noblest grape variety of Italy, in the same hills where also the sumptuous, age-worthy Barolo and Barbaresco are made. Langhe is the place name, while Nebbiolo, the grape name, comes form fog (“nebbia” in Italian), as being late ripening, there is fog over the vineyards during the harvest season at the end of October. It has a lively medium-deep ruby red color, is floral and fresh on the nose, medium-bodied, flavorful and well-balanced.

TRENTINO SCHIAVA ― BAIT N.4 ― TONIOLLI

Location: Cembra, Trento – Trentino Alto Adige
Classification: Trentino Schiava DOC
Grape varieties: Schiava

Schiava is the typical red wine of South Tyrol, an Alpine region of Italy. It is as much delicate as it is delicious. Tannins are never pronounced, which makes the taste very supple. It is fruity and medium-bodied, lively but not acidic. It is a perfect summer red, that benefit from chilling like a white wine. The producer of this Schiava, Toniolli, is a very small winery in the mountains, managed by two young brothers.
