Description

VERNACCIA DI SAN GIMIGNANO RISERVA ― SAN BENEDETTO

Location: San Gimignano, Siena – Toscana
Classification: Vernaccia di San Gimignano DOCG
Grape varieties: Vernaccia di San Gimignano

San Gimignano is nicknamed the “Manhattan of the Middle Ages” because of its skyline dominated by the tall towers. During 11 th and 13 th centuries wealthy families competed for prestige by building the tallest and most impressive towers. In those times a white wine named Vernaccia was already produced and beloved, so much so that Dante mentioned it in his Comedia. It has been the first DOC wine of Italy in 1966 and became a DOCG (Denomination of Controlled and Guaranteed Quality) few years later. Entirely produced with native grapes and aged in wooden barrel for 18 months, this white wine gives off ripe fruity aromas together with nuts and honey; it has firm and creamy texture and a long savory finish.

VINO NOBILE DI MONTEPULCIANO RISERVA ― IL CONVENTINO

Location: Montepulciano, Siena – Toscana
Classification: Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva DOCG
Grape varieties: Sangiovese 85%; Colorino, Canaiolo e Mammolo 15%

The Wine Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is produced in the picturesque landscapes of Val d’Orcia (UNESCO World Heritage Site). The clay and sandrich soil results in a wine with a soft mouthfeel and plenty of fruity flavors. It is one of the oldest appellations of Tuscany, already a successful wine in the 15th century. This Riserva version is made with 85% Sangiovese and 15% other local varieties, organically grown, and is aged for 30 months in wooden casks and 6 months in barrels. It develops a rich nose and taste with a lingering finish.

BAROLO RISERVA ― VIGNOLO ― CAVALLOTTO

Location: Castiglione Falletto, Cuneo – Piemonte
Classification: Barolo Riserva Vignolo DOCG (Castiglion Falletto)
Grape varieties: Nebbiolo

Barolo is considered the king of the wines and the wine of the kings. Certainly, it is the most austere and age worthy wine of Italy. It was invented by Camillo Benso, Count of Cavour, the man who contributed to the Italian unification more than anyone else. So, Barolo was created together with Italy as the modern state we know today. Barolo Bricco Boschis is a single-vineyard, 100% Nebbiolo wine, aged for 2 years in wooden casks. The producer, Cavallotto, is a very well-known traditional producer in the region. This wine has a long potential for aging.
